Sulawesi Shrimp (Caridina dennerli)

A striking RARE freshwater dwarf shrimp endemic to Lake Matano on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, instantly recognisable by its vivid red body and bold white spots. These eye-catching, active scavengers are a prized collector's species that bring brilliant colour and constant movement to a dedicated, well-maintained shrimp tank. Available in both Cardinal and White Orchid.

In store pickup only.

Care at a Glance:

  • Minimum Tank Size: 20+ litres (dedicated shrimp tank)
  • Temperature: 27–30°C
  • pH Range: 7.5–8.5
  • Temperament: Peaceful, active scavenger
  • Diet: Omnivore — biofilm, algae, shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, powdered foods
  • Max Size: 2–3cm
  • Lifespan: 1–2 years
  • Care Level: Advanced (requires warm, hard, alkaline water with exceptional stability)

Tank Mates: Best kept in a species-only tank or with other Sulawesi shrimp species (e.g. Caridina lanceolata, Caridina marlenae). Avoid fish, snails, or any species that may predate or compete. Stable parameters are critical — do not mix with Neocaridina or soft-water Caridina.
