Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)
A fully aquatic salamander with a charming, perpetually smiling face and feathery external gills, the Axolotl is one of the most unique aquatic pets available. Hardy and long-lived, it's best kept in a cool, species-only tank with a sand substrate and plenty of hiding spots.

- Minimum Tank Size: 60L per axolotl, with sand substrate and hiding spots
- Temperature: 16–20°C (must stay cool — no heater)
- pH Range: 6.5–8.0
- Water Hardness: Moderate to hard
- Temperament: Peaceful but will eat anything that fits in its mouth
- Diet: Axolotl pellets, earthworms, frozen bloodworms, blackworms

Tank Mates: Best kept alone or with other axolotls of similar size; avoid fish (may be eaten or nip gills).
