Small Assorted Peacock Cichlid (Aulonocara sp.)
A colourful and highly sought-after group of African cichlids from Lake Malawi, Peacock Cichlids are known for their striking metallic colours, which can range from vibrant blues and yellows to oranges and reds. They are relatively peaceful for Malawi cichlids, but males can become territorial, making them best suited to a carefully planned African cichlid aquarium.

Care at a Glance:

Tank Mates: Best kept with other similarly sized and tempered Lake Malawi cichlids, including other Peacock Cichlids and compatible Haplochromis-type cichlids. Avoid very aggressive Mbuna and small or slow-moving community fish.
Origin: Lake Malawi, East Africa. Small Assorted Peacock Cichlids are generally aquarium-trade varieties or hybrids of the Aulonocara group, rather than a single wild species. They naturally inhabit sandy and rocky areas of the lake, where they forage across the substrate for small invertebrates.
