Tricolour Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare)

A vibrant selectively bred variety, the Tricolour Angelfish displays a beautiful blend of three colours — typically silver, black and golden-orange — across its body and fins. The interplay of colour and pattern makes each fish unique, creating a lively and visually striking centrepiece for the tropical aquarium.

• Minimum Tank Size: Medium to large tall aquarium (200L+ recommended for a group)
• Temperature: 26–30°C
• pH Range: 6.0–7.0

• Temperament: Semi-aggressive; peaceful when young but territorial when pairing and breeding
• Diet: Omnivore — quality flakes, pellets, frozen and live foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp)

• Care Level: Intermediate (requires stable water quality and appropriate tank mates)

Tank Mates: Medium-sized community fish such as Corydoras catfish, larger tetras (e.g. Black Skirt Tetras) and Bristlenose catfish. Avoid small fish that may be eaten and known fin-nippers.

Origin: Captive-bred selectively bred variant of the wild Pterophyllum scalare, originally from the Amazon Basin
