Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus)
Rhizome with at least 5 leaves
Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) is one of the most popular and forgiving aquarium plants in the hobby. Its hardy, dark green rhizome produces leathery, lance-shaped leaves that bring lush texture and structure to the aquarium. An epiphytic plant, Java Fern should be attached to driftwood or rock rather than planted in substrate, making it perfect for aquascapes with hardscape features. Virtually indestructible, it thrives in a wide range of conditions and is ideal for beginners.
